From Prototype to Production

Unlike the original prototype which was extremely crude, the second generation prototype had some semblance of softness to its image. Curves were smoothed out and dimensions were cleaned up. After the second generation prototype, the first production version was born. The name Pegasus was given to this blade, because just as the Greek myth told of Pegasus being born of the Gorgon's blood when it was spilled, so Pegasus was born out of the sweat and blood of a Newport Beach computer geek that loves sports, an engineer that is currently training for a Mr. Universe competition later this year (Ken looks like Arnold Schwarzeneger +10), and a Master Tool and Die Maker who is an extremely multi-talented musician. Oh, and of course, just as Pegasus was strong and flew to great heights, so goes this blade.

This assembly rendering of the first version of Pegasus basically shows the parts in their assembly positions. The views you can select below are high quality JPG images taken from the engineering software used to create the files for the laser cutting machines and are large; if you do not have a high speed Internet connection, you may be in for a little wait. As you will see from the renderings, the blade is built to be bulletproof. What is most amazing is that even though Pegasus has greater volume than any figure skate blade on the market, it is actually almost half the weight!
